First Post

Well, I’ve always said I wanted to start a blog and here we are. I’ve never really had time to blog but since this is an assignment for one of my classes, I’m going to start making time to do so!

I guess I should start by introducing myself. Hi, I’m Sara! Although if you’re reading this, you probably already know that. I am a junior (almost senior thanks to graduating early next year) at MTSU and I am majoring in music business with a double minor in marketing and management. If I’m not at school, I’m either working a show at the Opry (come see me, I’ll give you a tour!) or at my internship with Average Joes Entertainment. If by some miracle I have free time, you can probably find me either at a concert (usually country) or at home with my pup, Aurora.

If you know me, you also know that one of my favorite things in the world is Hawaii Five-0. If I’m watching TV, that’s usually what I’m watching. I got to visit Hawaii in November of 2016 and it’s still one of the best weeks of my life. We even got to do a tour of the places that the show films at a lot (best. decision. ever.)

I think this just about sums up the main things you need to know about me, but then again, if you keep following my posts you’ll get to learn even more in the future. I plan on posting monthly playlists of what I’m listening to, as well as reviews of shows, books, and albums that are new or are some of my favorites. I mostly listen to country, especially up and coming artists. I’m sure there will be a concert review here or there too. Thanks for reading and feel free to post comments if you want to know anything more about me or if you want to tell me a little bit about yourself!

To close out my first post, I’m going to leave y’all with my September Spotify playlist!

Until next time…

New Music Friday: Carly Pearce

Happy Friday, y’all!

I’ve known Carly Pearce for years now and I’m not lying when I tell you this is the one album I’ve been waiting for for a LONG time. Today’s the day and “Every Little Thing” is finally out!

This album has everything from songs that break your heart to upbeat jams that you can’t help but sing along to. Carly’s debut single “Every Little Thing”, which is the title track, is currently sitting at #6 at country radio and she is the ONLY female in the top 10 (which is sad, but GO CARLY!!!). It’s a heartbreaking ballad that has shot Carly to the top, which is hard to do for females (and ballads in general) these days. While Carly does have a few other songs on the album that tug at your heartstrings (Feel Something, If My Name Was Whiskey, I Need a Ride Home), she also has songs that have some sass in them like Doin’ It Right and her soon to be second single Hide the Wine. No matter what type of country music you like the most, I think you’ll find something you love on this album because Carly is a little bit of country, a little bit of pop, and a little bit of bluegrass all in one.

Carly has one of the most unique voices that country music has seen in years and I think she is exactly what it needs right now. I have no doubt that this album is going to launch her to stardom and I can’t wait to see where she goes from here.

Make sure to buy or stream “Every Little Thing” today and check out Carly on the Caliville Tour this fall with Brett Young. You can find the official tour dates on her website and you can keep up with Carly by liking her on Facebook and by following her on Twitter and Instagram!

Music Monday

B1+iZfMzA9S._CR0,0,3840,2880_._SL1000_Happy Music Monday, y’all!

On Friday, one of my favorite up and coming female artists, Jillian Jacqueline, released “Side A” that includes some of the songs that will be on her debut album that is going to be released soon! There’s a little something for everyone on “Side A” whether you’re looking for a song that will tear your heart out like “Hate Me” and “God Bless This Mess” or a song that you can jam to like “Bleachers”. Jillian has one of the most unique voices I’ve heard in a long time and it didn’t take me long to fall in love with both her voice and her as a person!

Jillian is signed to Big Loud Records and is currently out on radio tour promoting her first single “Reasons” to country radio! She is one of CMT’s Next Women of Country and was one of Rolling Stone’s “10 New Country Artists You Need to Know” in 2016! She is also apart of CMT’s Listen Up Class of 2017. While Jillian has only been signed to a label since the beginning of the year, she’s already been doing big things like touring with people like Billy Currington and Dwight Yokam.

Make sure to listen to Jillian’s new release “Side A” on Spotify or iTunes and check out all of her social sites below!Jillian-Jacqueline-1506092611Make sure to like Jillian on Facebook, follow her on Twitter and Instagram, and check out her touring schedule on BandsInTown!

Concert Review: Lady Antebellum at Bridgestone Arena – 9/9/2017

Happy Monday! Over the weekend, I saw the closing night of the US leg of Lady Antebellum’s “You Look Good” World Tour featuring Brett Young and Kelsea Ballerini! I had seen all three artists before but I must say, these three artists together was a perfect combination.

While this is one of the first major tours that Brett Young has been on, his stage presence is already fantastic. He ran around the stage like he’s been touring for years. I first saw Brett at the Listening Room Cafe here in Nashville a few years ago, so it’s been cool seeing him grow to where he is today. If you listen to country radio, then you’re probably already familiar with Brett’s music, considering at the show Saturday night he received a platinum plaque for his first #1 single “Sleep Without You” and a double platinum plaque for his second #1 single “In Case You Didn’t Know”, as well as a gold plaque for his self-titled debut album (which if you haven’t, check it out, it’s fantastic).

Kelsea Ballerini was up next and I’ve also been seeing her since her songwriter round days. Her debut album, The First Time, made history by having 3 consecutive #1 singles on it – something a female in country music hasn’t done in a long time (the last female to do so was Wynonna Judd in 1992). Kelsea sang a mix of songs from her first album and from her upcoming album, Unapologetically, with plenty of sass and sparkles. In true Nashville fashion, she brought out the co-writers, Hillary Lindsey and Forrest Glen Whitehead, of her current single Legends to sing it with her. I actually got the chance to catch up with Kelsea prior to the show thanks to Big 98 here in town! IMG_0017

Lady Antebellum took a break from the band last year and sometimes bands don’t come back as strong after a hiatus. This is not the case for Lady A. Their show at Bridgestone Arena on Saturday night was one of the best I’ve ever seen them put on. They played their hits that they’re known for, like “I Run to You”, “Downtown”, and “Need You Now”, as well as songs off of their new album, Heart Break. With the horn section they added for this tour, their old songs got new life breathed into them and the new songs sounded fresh and fun. During the middle of the show, they broke it down to just the three of them with Dave Haywood playing the piano. The group got a little emotional as they began talking about their journey and how this year marks their 10th year as a band. They picked it back up afterwards with their current single “You Look Good” and ended the show with quite possibly their biggest hit “Need You Now”. While the US leg of the tour may be over, if you live outside of the United States make sure to check and see if Lady Antebellum is coming to your part of the world because this is a tour you don’t want to miss!

Thanks for reading guys, feel free to comment with your favorite songs from Lady Antebellum, Kelsea, and Brett or if you saw the tour and have any thoughts on it!
